CB Radio Channel Guide

Citizen's Band Radio or CB as it is known for short is divided into 40 channels (frequencies).  Some channels are formally and informally dedicated for certain types of radio traffic.  Two channels in particular even have shortcuts on certain CB radios; channel 9 and 19.  For example, channel 9 is dedicated for emergency situations which used to be monitored by emergency personell, but since the popularity of the cell phone, most calls are either assisted by other drivers or volunteer organizations.  Channel 19 is the popular channel for OTR truckers.  Any channel can be used freely by anyone owning a CB radio, as there is no license required for CB.  Most CB radios do not show the frequency you are on, but instead they show the channel number.
