The Monkey Made Big John antenna is one of the best Monkey Made antennas on the market. The huge 5.5" diameter coil and uniquely flat coil design will tell everyone you are serious about your gear.
The Monkey Made Big John antenna was truly designed with performance in mind. The large diameter coil provides better heat dissapation when running amateur radios with a lot of power. The Monkey Made Big John can handle up to 20,000 watts of input power which is obviously enough for CB, but can also work with 10 meter amateur radios. CB radios can also benefit from greater range with the 66" stainless steel whip antenna on top of the Big John. The Big John can be installed on any 3/8" x 24 threaded stud mount, but we recommend a heavy duty stud due to it's size and weight. The Monkey Made Big John is hand-made in America with the finest American materials. Quality and performance are two traits Monkey Made is known for and it shows with the Big John antenna.
The Monkey Made Big John installs on any 3/8" x 24 threaded stud (most common) but should be a heavy duty stud because of the size and weight. Once installed on a heavy duty antenna mount, just add coax cable and a radio and your good to go. Don't forget to tune with a quality SWR meter.

The Big John antenna has an allen screw easy SWR tuning. If the SWR is greater on Channel 40 than on Channel 1, then you have an electrically long antenna and need to make it smaller by pushing the whip farther in. If the SWR is greater on Channel 1 than on Channel 40, then you have a electrically short antenna and need to pull the whip out or you can add a spring or quick disconnect to make it longer.
